It All Starts in the Begining

Write an essay about the opening of the novel introduces major themes in the novel and explain how it functions this way.

They say that what starts bad ends bad and sometimes its hard to believe but then again their is cause and effect which complies with that saying. The Mayor of Caster bridge is a novel that had a very strong beginning setting the tone of the story line of unexpected events. In the beginning of this novel the main character sells his wife while he is drunk leaving a big scene and when he wakes the next morning he can't believe what he has done. Meaning he is a man that acts upon impulse, yes he was drunk but they say drunk people and children are always straight forward.

Micheal Henchard was chased by his past with undeniable doubt, but why? He was not a bad man he triend mending his errors as he bacame a man of good acts and had a very prosperous life as mayor of his town. The past is the begining and those both never erase they stay in the past but are always there to remind the peron how they got to where they did. So then Micheal Henchard always had his past haunting him remembering he does not drink anymore because of the grand mistake he did as a drunken man and impulsive behavior. As the story proceeds Micheal Henchard receives physical forms of his past from his wife and who he thinks is his daughter, they come back and he tries of feels that this is his opportunity to mend his conscience from that once beginning and creating a family. Nonetheless the oppoiste happens again because the past comes back to remind him who he is and that his nature shall not change no matter if her wants to become someone different. Micheal Henchard lost all he had worked for in order to forget his beginning becoming once again the impulsive drunken man that created his own misfortune.

The biginning is the start of things from life to paths taken to who you are going to be because of the choices that you take in a life time. Sadly sometimes out of impulse like Micheal Henchard the start of it all was the setting of what his whole life was like
