Micheal Henchard

Micheal Henchard is probably the most interesting character in this novel, with his on coming consequences of unfortunate events that came after his bad choice in a moment of impulse. Micheal Henchard sold his wife and that is where his misfortunes began. He tried to mend his error by changing his path in life and becoming a well respected man in a town called Casterbridge. He was always trying to give back to his conscience from his past. Even though time had past it came back to haunt him since you can never leave things undone. His wife came back bringing the past back to life and once again Micheal Henchards life goes down hill. He loses his position as mayor and is left in poverty and everything he once thought true was nothing but a mere lie. Why did the author do this? The author was probably trying to show that what starts wrong ends bad, nothing will be left unattended. Henchard was a good man the does change but it happens too late and the people lose faith in his word. Henchard did find love in life and learned his lesson late.
